The future is here!

In the past, it was hard to believe that we would be able to sit in a fully automated, robotic car that needed no driver. It was a scary yet exciting thought for us. Quite crazily, the world has changed a lot with new technology and it is exciting as ever!

Driver-less Car Technology

Recently in 2018, a project launched by Google for driver-less cars, became a company Waymo that used advanced technology for making autonomous vehicles. These self-driving cars do not require any human help and sense not only traffic, but buildings, signal lights, sign boards and even pedestrians from several miles away.

How do autonomous vehicles work?

These automated cars use Li-DAR system (Light Detection and Ranging) that enables the car to detect any obstacle and any object by throwing a beam around and then measuring the time taken for the beam to reflect to show the area and distance.

Maps, Radars and robots

Automated cars use augmented reality (AR/VR), Radar waves and robotic system to navigate and travel from one location to other.

Self Driving Cars

What is the benefit of a self driving car?

A self driving car has many advantages.

Automated cars are good for global economy – $7 Trillion Dollar advantage

Self driving cars will prove good for the global economy. It is estimated that cars with no drivers will bring a rough addition of about $7 Trillion to the global economy. There will be less fuel required, less number of drivers will save the rider’s money and fully robotic system will help us to reach our destination with the shortest and most accurate route possible, without any human error. It also saves us from breaking the traffic rules.

Self driving cars will decrease road accident rates

It is claimed by companies like Waymo, and other potentially benefiting companies from this technology like BMW and Apple, that this technology will sharply decrease the rates of accidents happening on road due to human error. As this technology brings accuracy, there is less chance of error.

Other companies will also get advantage

According to latest news, companies like Apple has started working to get benefit from this innovation. Apple has collaborated with BMW to design a fully automated car and this will also be tested soon on the roads of UK.
