SELF DRIVING CARS – Part 2

Is The Future Dark?

We have told you about the advantages of automated cars, but what about the other side of the story – where is the dark side of this? Let’s find out.

Is there any harm from a self driving car?

Yes. Like every other technology, a self driving car comes with some harmful aspects as well.

Drivers and gas/petrol pump stations will have to bear great loss

People who rely on conventional driving will have to bear loss. They will ultimately lose their jobs and will face unemployment. This will be an alarming situation if it is not compensated by providing them with alternate jobs in the near future.

Is this technology applicable all over the world?

We can see cars in all parts of the world, but do we see the same traffic system, same road quality, and same types of objects and other obstacles in all countries? No, we do not see any uniformity around the globe. Even the behavior of people in each country is different from the other, so is the driving style. It will require a lot of research to bring a unified program for a technology to be applicable in all parts of the world. Let’s see how the Tech World deals with it.

Driver companies and driving schools will face crisis

Companies like Uber and private teaching schools will face a huge loss when there will be no need of any driver in the front seat.

Artificial intelligence can be harmful

We must realize that not every job has to be done by robots, nature has designed us in a way that we have to keep working mentally and physically in order to stay fit and active. If we reduce our productivity by giving even our minor tasks to machines, we can go against nature and become too mechanic and fake. This will be ultimately a disaster, so we should keep an eye on what ways are we using technology to benefit ourselves.

What to hope for in the future?

We should not keep our eyes closed, but we can hope for a better global economy. Let’s hope if there are certain rules and regulations that will allow the companies and job – bearers to compensate for the loss with this upcoming technology. We do not have to fully rely on this. Moreover, Waymo claims to have its technology tested for a million times but let’s see how this technology applies in under developed countries where there is a huge factor of badly paved roads, no traffic lights, sign boards and no pedestrian crossing. There are a lot of factors to be looked upon until this technology is put to use in a fully functional way.
