They have a constant pressure to deliver and make real improvements t their products to deliver better features and improve the technology that makes the quality better. Failure to do so can lead to loss of customers and loss of their companies.

Constant upgrading has many disadvantages too. Companies like Apple have been constantly trying to make upgrades a way to make money. As people are upgrading their phones less frequently, manufacturers are looking for new ways to make you buy them. So they focus on making physical, visible changes. These changes make a difference in the society. People know when you have a different looking device with visibly different features, they realize that you have spent a big amount of money on that. This ultimately is a status thing and all of the world is after it. It is easier to show your status symbol by your mobile phone.
