The major drawback found associated with the lives of trekkers and mountaineers are getting stuck and never been found. Ice-covered mountains are very dangerous places. One wrong step and you go tumbling down. One wrong move and the ice starts to dislocate, next thing you know is that you are falling with it. Avalanches are like death eater, if you are not rescued in the time span of 15 minutes, the life is lost. Moreover, the thick blanket of snow makes it even more difficult to get an accurate location of the victim.
An App to locate a victim
A French ski enthusiast Titouan Parand and his co-partner Steeve Delardiere have designed an app that gets the accurate location on the victims of an avalanche. The app uses the signals of Wi-Fi from the victim’s phone and a global satellite to pinpoint where the victim is located. The app is being tested in the French Alps. Parand and his co-partner hope that people will utilize this app and many lives would be saved.
Support
The application has received support from CNES. The CEO is hopeful about the app. He added that ‘There are projects just waiting for someone to make them. Not trying would be the worst mistake.’ ‘Go ahead because you will always find a solution’. He adds. Parand also talked about how the computer has given him a new way to return to his passion after letting it go at the age of sixteen.

Advantages
This app can save millions of lives of an avalanche victim. It will be able to determine the location under the think sheet of snow. This is neither possible nor accurate with the conventional Global Positioning System (GPS). The exact location will cut down the time the rescue team spends on locating the victim in the vastness of snow.
After avalanches, the app will also be used to locate victims of other disasters. Most deaths in any natural disaster occur due to the delay in reaching out to the people alive. This will be a huge step toward the rescuing programs.
