To recognize and celebrate the talent of the mobile photo & art communities, Mobile Photography Awards was founded in 2011. The competition is held every year from October to December. Smartphone photographers can submit their entries to win a $3000 grand prize.
The 9th Annual Mobile Photography Awards is now accepting entries in several categories.
Taking a good picture was inconvenient before the smartphone. A photographer would have to buy a fancy camera, a desktop computer, a software editor. He would have to invest some serious time to get the perfect shot.

With smartphones, everyone has the opportunity to become a photographer for as little as $150. The same smartphone comes with editing software built-in, hence, if you want to, you can ditch your PC as well.
Multiple Categories
The Mobile Photography Awards has a total of 20 categories and every image can be placed into a maximum of two categories.
The winner of every category receives an MPA prize pack. The winner of the MPA photo essay category gets an award of $500. The categories are:
- Eyes of the world
- Black and white
- Architecture & design
- Landscapes
- Digital art/photo illustration
- Macro/details
- People
- Nature and wildlife
- Photojournalism
- The darkness
- Travel & adventure
- Still life
- Portraits
- Self-portraits
- Silhouettes
- Transportation
- Visual fx
- Street photography
- Waterscapes/snow/ice
- The photo essay
Eligibility
Any image shot with a tablet or a mobile phone is eligible for the competition. The photographers can use any combination of mobile phone applications to edit their images. Editing using desktop PCs or laptops is not allowed.

How to Enter
To enter, all you have to do is create an account here with your name and e-mail. The competition, however, is not free and you’ll have to purchase the entries. The price categories are:
- $15 for One Photo
- $30 for Three Photos
- $50 for 6 Photos
- $29 for Photo Essay category
- $100 for 15 Photos
