Mother Earth has been gifted with natural resources that have longed been used by man as fuel, such as coal, oil, gas etc. but these sources are running out. This is where the innovative technologies step in to provide us with renewable energy utility options keep our cars running and our home lit with electricity.
Non-Renewable Energy sources
Also known as fossil fuel, are the energy sources that took billions of year to form throughout the timeline of our planet. These sources can’t be renewed on the same rate they are used and depleted as they take a very long time to form and under extreme conditions of pressure and temperature that are not present today. It will take another cycle of years to produce them. Thus, they are classified as non-renewable energy sources.
Renewable energy sources
These sources, on another hand, come from the phenomenon that can be replenished and reproduced rapidly within the timeline of human life. They are readily available and have lesser negative effects on life as compared to fossil fuels. These sources are sun, wind, geothermal, tides, waves and rain. These sources, due to their wide availability can be used to meet our daily energy (fuel) needs without harming the environment.
How does technology help?
Modern technology has allowed us to utilize and exploit the energy sources in such a way that they can meet the ever increasing needs of our daily life. It has allowed has to develop gadgets and procedures which can extract energy on a larger scale. This type of change was not possible before, but with the advancements in technology, these dreams are turning into reality. And with more inventors, scientist and companies invested in this field, the Green Industrial Revolution around the world is not far-sighted.
Companies involved in Renewable Technologies
Many companies are now involved in the manufacturing and modernizing the techniques for utilization of renewable energy sources. Elon Musk’s Tesla not only manufactures solar panels and solar roofs but also have the cars that run on electricity, thus cutting down the usage of non-renewable fuels. Musk, himself quotes that ‘we are going to exit the fossil fuels era. It is inevitable.’
Other companies that are involved in revolutionizing energy usage are First Solar, Canadian Solar, Vestas Wind System and the list goes on.
