Pakistan’s Postal Service suffered a huge downfall when the private courier services were introduced in Pakistan. These companies although, fast and reliable are expensive and almost took over the service of the homeland. This year, like other sectors Pakistan Post making an appreciable comeback and taking new initiatives. These new paths will improve the service a great deal and might compete against big courier names. This hopes to bring stability and trust back to the name of The Pakistan Post.
Inauguration
The service was inaugurated in Islamabad on last Saturday by Murad Saeed – Minister of Communications and Postal Service. Both the Minister and the director general of Pakistan Post showed faith in the reliability and future of the service. The important aspect of the growing market of E-Commerce was also highlighted.
In Murad Saeed’s words
At the launch of the Service, he said “Meeting the ever-changing and rising customer expectations in the digitalized global market of the day is a huge challenge indeed. This initiative will create a win-win opportunity for the Postal Services of Pakistan in the flourishing e- commerce market.”
On the importance of financial importance and viability, he added “To improve its financial health and make it a commercially viable entity and profitable institution, we are capitalizing on the strength of this organization by utilizing its vast footprint, wide and best delivery network, and its round-the-clock cash remittance service,” Saeed added.
The initial phase
In the first phase of this launch, a complete web-shop will be developed which will be helpful in the commercial activities and collaborating with people of E-commerce’s Pakistan. Minister also said that the international vendors are showing interest. The chief executive added that Pakistan Post is fully equipped and able to handle this new initiative and things will improve in the future. Hopefully, this will prove to be a milestone in gaining the lost legacy back.

Numerous other Achievements
To support this launch it is worth mentioning here that Postal Service has improved over time. In October 2018, the urgent mailing service was launched nationwide. The 12 hours delivery time was offered with a lot fewer charges then private companies.
Earlier this January, export parcel service was also launched that offered delivery in 72 hours worldwide with lower charges. The service was also appreciated by the German Ambassador, who utilized it to send letter to Berlin.He quotes it to be ‘fast and reliable postal service.’
