How did internet take over?

Back in 1992, when the internet was the new thing, it was limited to some public. As it became more
popular, it made its place in public places. We call it as internet cafes. Internet cafes became famous in
the early 2000’s. This was the time when we had to use a card for internet access, that was used to
connect our server to an IP address.

How did internet become so accessible?

With the technological advancement day by day, new websites were created. Social media platforms
were the new hype. Now, with apps even more than all religions of the world are just a touch away. We
have been using cellular phones.

No Parental control

According to research, children have now access to unlimited amount of data from the internet. They
have been using internet since they are only toddlers. They have access to everything.

The question arises here is: How do we control the flood of data coming to our children?

Things that help us block the unwanted content

We have parental control systems. We can use app lock mechanisms. There are special apps built in for
monitoring and blocking specific content on the internet. However, this cannot hide the fact that the
internet is always free to explore. So, none of the restricting apps or tools really matter.

YouTube Version for kids

For example, I was recently viewing a version of YouTube designed especially for kids. It has all the
features that enable safe searching for kids with added specific-content blocker.

What do we do?

We have no control over the free flow of data. We can only limit our children’s access, make them use
their gadgets in family space, and most importantly, we should try being friendly towards them. We
should show our children enough friendliness, so they can share anything with us without doubts. We
should not forget that we have the power to be closer to our children than the internet can be. This can
be only be done by friendliness and openness.
