On Tuesday, Intel Corp unveiled its latest processor. It will be its first using AI and it is designed for large computing centers.
The chip Nervana NNP-I is based on a 10 nano meter Ice Lake processor. It will allow it to cope with high workloads using minimal amounts of energy.
Facebook, it said, has started using the product.
According to Intel, its first AI products comes after it had invested in Israeli AI startups, including NeuroBlade and Habana Labs.

The general manager of Intel’s AI products group, Naveen Rao said:
“To meet with the future of ‘AI everywhere’. We have to deal with a very huge amount of data generated. So, we must equipped the organizations with all they need to make effective use of the data and process them.”
“These computers need acceleration for complex Artificial Intelligence applications.”
It said this new chip will help Intel Xeon processors in large companies as the need for complex computations in the Artificial Intelligence field increases.
